More than 60 drivers of Howo trucks with coal continue protest at Kemin weight station

Up to 62 heavy duty trucks Howo overloaded with coal have gathered at the Kemin weight station to date, the Ministry of Transport and Communications told Turmush.

The truck drivers ask for a permission to easy coal transportation until April 2015. According to some data, they are calling on their colleagues to join the protest.

The Transport Ministry reported that the trucks are overloaded by at least 20 tons.

“Heavy duty truck Howo is designed for quarrying; it is not intended for coal transportation. The drivers are violating the law,” the Ministry said. Truck overloading is a violation of the governmental decree on the passage of vehicles on the roads of Kyrgyzstan that has been introduced to save the roads from strains.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulan Uyezbayev conducted the explanatory work among the drivers.

The trucks are owned by private companies.
