Most part of the Bishkek-Osh road has been rehabilitated, according to a draft budget of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan for 2015 and forecast for 2016-2017.
Only the fourth phase, covering the segments from Bishkek to Kara-Balta and from Madaniyat to Jalal-Abad, is remaining.
Thus, 52-km segment from Bishkek to Kara-Balta will be funded at the expense of a soft loan from the Asian Development Bank in the amount of $128 million. It will be a four-lane road widening to six lanes in some areas.
65-km segment from Madaniyat to Jalal-Abad will be financed at the expense of another soft loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for $60 million.
Currently, internal procedures on the rehabilitation plan of these segments are being conducted. The projects are scheduled to be completed in 2015.
