State Drug Control Service Head Alymbai Sultanov and Minister of Interior Melis Turganbayev met on December 24 at the central office of the State Drug Control Service (SDCS), agency's press service reported.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of strengthening the fight against drug trafficking and strengthening of interdepartmental cooperation.
The problem of drug trafficking continues to be one of the most pressing and urgent issues not only in Kyrgyzstan, but throughout the world, the sides noted.
"In recent years, expansion of drug trafficking has become more aggressive, It nourishes transnational organized crime, drug-related corruption, and becomes one of the main threats to the security of the country," the statement said.
In order to develop practical cooperative units, the parties agreed to continue organizing bilateral meetings.
Following the meeting, the outstanding employees in the fight against drug trafficking and the winners of the Games held among the employees of the Ministry of Interior and State Drug Control Service received awards.
In addition, within the framework of interdepartmental cooperation State Drug Control Service handed 5 computers and 2 printers to the Ministry of Interior.
